I read about your return in our Pataskala Standard. My son is finishing up his senior year at Watkins. I wish there had been time for you to present slides in his International Affairs and Global Studies class. I really wish you were staying stateside longer to do a lecture circuit in Spanish classes in local schools. Welcome home! I am busy planning graduation open house for Antonio. I am still a PAR teacher in Columbus. Keep in touch and thanks for this lovely website! My son, Antonio is touring Spain with EF for 10 days in June and he should get a taste of Europe that way. He'll be at Miami University in Oxford, OH this fall. Hasta Luego, Gail

Oh, how wonderful it was to see you in person after your departure over14 months ago! You look so great and happy. And this visit gave me the opportunity to explore a beautiful city that I probably never would have considered vacationing at (other than the one-day stop on a cruise I took, which doesn't really give you a flavor of the city). I felt safe all the time, including our night-time strolls and my early morning trip to an ATM. Being able to surprise you with Rochelle was tremendous icing on the cake. The joy on your faces was worth the trip all on its own.
Love,

Thank goodness Lucho scared these guys off! I think you guys should write a book about this adventure; have you ever thought about it? Sounds like the next step to me! Gary is so jealous that you guys are getting to go to the Galapalos (sp?) Islands. Take lots of photos and be sure to put them on your site!! All here is fine; busy as beavers. I'm feeling great and Gary and I have each lost 15 pounds. We each want to lose 10 more. It takes a lot of discipline and we need to increase our exercise too.

Hi Erica and Ryan,

really nice pictures from Le Tour! I´m still blown away by the fact that you both did l'Alp d'Huez in less than two hours. If I ever get there I'll be happy to do the climb in less than a week...

Here's the website of the swedish race round lake Vattern I told you about:

http://www.vatternrundan.se/default.aspx?lang=1

It actually is the biggest race in the world if you count the number of participants. About 17000 people sign up for it each year (altough not all finish it...).
The starts begin at about 20 in the evening on the 16:th of June, in groups of about a hundred people I think. The last groups take off at about 05 the morning after. By that time some of the first riders have already finished so for a short time there are riders along all 300km of the course.
Normally you have to sign up at least a couple months in advance, it get's sold out every year. If you register really early you can get a start time early in the evening which means that you get to see the sun both set and rise in just a couple of hours (the race is June when swedish nights are really short).

So, in conclusion: if you're out of plans for June some year and feel the urge to go to Sweden, I can highly recommend doing Vatternrundan!

All the best

it's always a lot of fun, and very informative to read up on your adventure. Came accross this website www.hospitality .org in a newspaper here. It might be an option for you two as you get further north. On the other hand, you two can't be bothered with 'silly' things like that anylonger,I'd understand. You guys really look good, the entire world is just green with envy...
Be good, and take care

Hi Ryan and Erica,
I will be following you tour and will write an article for the employee newsletter at the Division of Industrial Compliance. Have met with your Dad and did an article about Structural Inspectors for the State of Ohio recently.
By the way, just wanted you to know that it probably would not be a good idea for you to be going through Columbia. Realizing it's your choice I know, but had to through my two cents in.
Stay safe everyday and have enjoyable rest of your trip.

Think about it! Erica, when you guys get to Panama could you check and see if Ft. Clayton (the Army base) is still there. My family was stationed there when I was a kid for 4 years and I've always wondered if it still exists. It's just a short way from the Miraflores Locks. My Dad was a first sargeant at the 63rd Engineer Co. there and we lived in a house on base that was up on cement pilings (due to the rainy season). It was a real adventure for a little kid. BA sounds amazing. It's great you stayed for a while and really soaked up the town. I guess it is cool that the steaks are so cheap. A steak can be fantastic, and I hear that the food there is the best.

How about the wine? I get wine from Arg + Chile all the time here in Ohio and it is my fav. If you can, try some Malbac wine that I think grows in the area. It's a giant, almost black, grape that makes great, spicey red wine.

Cheers, you two.

Thanks for putting this web site together. I just finished your travel log. I like the madrid airport story. Nice accomodations. I slept on a bench one night when I had nowhere else to go. It was comfortable. I fell sound asleep until it began to rain. I am so happy for the two of you. What a marvelous way to live life!! Hasta Luego. Gary

Hi Ryan and Erica! I`ll have to try that bike path across Switzerland sometime. in the meantime, I did something quite exotic- I rode my bike to work! Happy trails, my friends....

I've only made it part way through the pictures. So far, my favorites are Erica in the sunflower field, and the one with her reflection in Ryan's sunglasses. Of course, the castles and old towns and buildings are great too.

It's a beautiful web site! I look forward to continuing to drink in all the sights.
